What does a first consultation at Rathod Law Firm cost?
A consultation with Kapil Rathod, the principal lawyer, is $500, and a consultation with an RCIC is $250. Both figures are inclusive of HST. Government filing fees are separate and are paid to the authority rather than to the firm. You leave with the position stated plainly, the options ranked, likely timelines, and the cost of the next step.
Which languages does Rathod Law Firm work in?
English, Hindi, Gujarati and Punjabi. Most clients explain a situation more precisely in the language they think in, and precision is the point of the meeting.
My visa application was refused. Is that decision final?
Often not. Refusals of visitor visas, work permits, spousal work permits and permanent residence applications, along with failed refugee claims, can be challenged at the Federal Court of Canada. The deadline is generally 15 days for a decision made inside Canada and 60 days for one made outside it, so bring the refusal letter as soon as you have it.
Should I pay a traffic ticket or fight it?
Paying is a guilty plea, and the conviction affects insurance premiums for about three years. Filing to dispute costs nothing and preserves your options, so have the ticket reviewed before you pay it.
What is the difference between the lawyer and the paralegals at the firm?
Licensed paralegals can represent you in Small Claims Court, at tribunals such as the Landlord and Tenant Board, and on Provincial Offences matters, at a lower cost. Matters outside that defined scope are handled by our lawyer. We tell you which applies at the first conversation.
Where is Rathod Law Firm's office?
Brampton, at 106-2250 Bovaird Drive East, Ontario L6R 0W3, off Bovaird Drive East near Airport Road. Consultations are by appointment, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, in English, Hindi, Gujarati and Punjabi. The firm acts across Ontario, so you do not have to live in Brampton to instruct it.
What should I bring to a notary appointment?
Valid government issued photo identification and the document, unsigned. You sign in front of the notary. For a certified true copy, bring the original as well.
How much can I claim in Small Claims Court in Ontario?
Small Claims Court hears monetary claims up to $50,000, not counting interest and costs, under section 1(1) of O. Reg. 626/00. Above that limit the matter belongs in the Superior Court of Justice, though a claim can be reduced to the limit where that trade is worth making.
